President-elect Donald Trump continued to irritate the politically correct police on Christmas Day with a Facebook message that has received over 800,000 likes.
In a short and direct post, Trump wished his followers a merry Christmas — in all capital letters — to remind everyone of his pledge to bring back the phrase “Merry Christmas.”
His post was also a not-so-subtle hint to the politically correct crowd that he wasn’t planning to back down from that promise.
“From my family to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS! Hope you are having a wonderful day!” the post read.
Throughout his campaign, Trump promised to bring back “Merry Christmas,” an expression liberals have attempted to snuff out for decades by replacing it with benign phrases like “Happy Holidays.”
During his “Thank You” tour Trump reiterated that pledge by wishing the crowd “Merry Christmas.” He also reminded them of the promise he made.
“So when I started 18 months ago, I told my first crowd in Wisconsin that we are going to come back here someday and we are going to say merry Christmas again,” he said. “So, Merry Christmas everyone. Happy New Year, but Merry Christmas.”
Take a look:
Trump’s message must infuriate liberals, who have repeatedly tried to destroy the spirit of Christmas in every way possible. They have done their best to remove Nativity scenes from public areas, attack displays that include crosses and even put Santa in their crosshairs because the jolly guy might trigger some people who are sensitive to such images.
Trump’s promise to bring back “Merry Christmas” will probably only encourage the politically correct crowd to work harder to ruin Christmas, but at least we will have a president in the White House promising to stand up for one of the most significant holidays on the Christian calendar.
